[Taiwan] Day Trip to Jioufen 九份一日遊 Part 4

The Secret Base 秘密基地柑仔店
Direction: Jioufen Shuchi Road, next to A-Gan-Ye Taro Ball

I highly recommend checking out The Secret Base when visiting Jioufen.  I'm sure you agree too after seeing how much fun Chris had with the chinese outfits and the props.  The props and displays are meant to remind the visitors of their childhood from the 1950's to 1970's.  Unfortunately, it may be a little difficult for foreigners to understand the significance of some of the items as there are no english explanation anywhere (after all, admission's only NT$10, don't ask too much).  However, when we went, the volunteer, a gentleman in his 60's, is ultra friendly, even with his limited english he really made sure we had a good time!   

If you're ever there, tell him you read about the place on my blog!  I promised him I'll recommend the place to my friends!!

Mud Mask Museum 泥人吳
Direction: Jioufen Shuchi Road.  Next to The Secret Base

The Mud Mask Museum is created by an artist who claims he could see "ghosts".  So he made over 1500 masks resembling the ghosts he sees.  Admission is NT$50, looks interesting, but I didn't go in, too creepy for me.  However, lots bloggers out there rave about this place.

回憶專賣店….好像迷幻小說會出現的場景

果然去一趟會想起很多小時候的事
像那個大算盤

我小四時珠算課還是學校的必修課, 月考也會考的科目
可是學理工的OC爸認為這個有計算機的時代還學珠算是很可笑的事, 應付應付就可以了
所以我不但沒加入同學們校後的珠算補習, 連算盤都是最便宜、常常會卡住的塑膠算盤
(那時我們班的珠算冠軍是我們班的小白臉班長, 他的算盤是爸媽日本買回來的高級木頭算盤
打起還超順手還香香的, 大家都好羨慕)

我珠算大概只會打個位數的加減
稍微複雜一點的就手忙腳亂
一看到那個大算盤就想到以前每個禮拜只要看到珠算老師抱著大珠算盤進教室就開始冒冷汗的情景….

秘密基地柑仔店的經營者很用心
我有跟在那邊幫忙的歐吉桑聊一下
好像是歐吉桑的朋友是個致力於推展台灣文化的文化工作者
擺設的東西都是自己收集的
而且還有更多是還沒整理好的
只酌收10元清潔費是為了可以吸引更多人來看

這樣很佩服啊~ 將來我發有大財的話也要做這種免費服務大眾的事
像加州的Getty's Museum
Getty是個石油大王
可是只賣石油賺錢誰認識啊?
搞不好也曾經是個沒良心的生意人
結果開了個免錢的美術館現在可是名留萬史的大好人呢!
